The Great Gatsby

Several years ago I was on a long cross-country flight when someone next to me asked if I was reading what I was for school. I look young for my age, I admit, and was long out of school at that point, but I guess it was unusual to see someone reading The Great Gatsby for fun. I love that book, love the aura of the time in which the story is set, and always imagine the setting, the details. I’m giddy with excitement for the release of Gatsby this weekend (anyone care to join me Saturday or Sunday?), and loved these photographs of one of my favorite actors, Carey Mulligan (she was a showstopper in An Education, one of my favorite movies of all time.), by Mario Testino forĀ Vogue. See the full slidshow here. Stunning, yes? (all images via Vogue, by Mario Testino)

Romina Bacci

I love being outdoors, particularly in the spring and summer. Few things make me happier than spending time on long walks, smelling grass that’s been freshly cut, seeing flowers bloom in their natural settings, playing in the ocean. Photographer Romina Bacci captures the essence of what I love about nature so well in her work, all of which is featured here. The light, the softness, the purity of things unfettered with - all of those things, caught in her work, bring me joy. See her whole collection of images here. I hope in have a chance to meet her someday. I’d love an entire group of these images in my home where I could enjoy them every single day. (all images by Romina Bacci)
