Friday, finally. It’s a long holiday weekend in the U.S., and I’m headed out of town early tomorrow morning to help out a friend with twins. Looking forward to inspiration and laughter provided by some darling little ones and maybe a few new images of things that make me smile. Here today are a few images (posts from my Instagram feed) that have brought a big smile to my face of late: a beautiful birthday piece from dear Maybelle, the In Pursuit of Magic graffiti outside a favorite shop on my birthday, a dish towel in my favorite shades of white and the perfect neon pink, and a little postcard with a sentiment dear to me picked up while visiting my dear friend Neha last weekend. Inspired by Nature

Now that the light remains well into the evening and the days feel a little bit more free, it has been fun to spend more time outside. I love taking walks to see what is in bloom, to feel the little bit of cool air of spring hanging on, to see the Tuesday afternoon farmer’s market in action near where I live. Several months ago, my dad and I were talking about spending time outside, when he made a comment about how I don’t really like nature. I couldn’t actually imagine anything further from the truth, actually, but I think he looks at it from a totally different perspective. He grew up hunting, a fishing pole or another sports item perpetually slung over his shoulder. While I do not hunt or fish, I love spending time in the outdoors; it’s just a different kind of time, a different appreciation for nature, I guess. That conversation and these images got me to thinking more about the months ahead. My job never really ends for the summer, but it is possible to take some time away, to keep more regular hours, to make time for days outside. Bring on the natural inspiration, I say. Art I Love

There’s a line in an old Sex and the City episode when Miranda admits to her friend that she has a love (a guilty pleasure, shall we say) for a funny tabloid magazine. When her friends act all astonished, she finally admonishes them with the words, “I love it, it’s my thing, get over it.” And so we are here today, another (to me) lovely set of art work in pales and neutrals. No surprise, I suspect, to which I would probably also add, “I love it, get over it, it’s my thing.” :) The beauty of these pieces sings to me. Credits: 1/2/3/4/5/6/7
